The University of Aruba is a young, dynamic, and growing university that was founded in 1988 and now consists of four faculties, namely the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Accounting, Finance & Marketing, the Faculty of Hotel and Tourism Management Studies, and the Faculty of Arts and Science. Our primary activity is to provide high-quality education. Currently we are also developing the research portfolio of the UA.

For our University of Aruba Research Center, we are looking for a highly motivated:

 

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
(0,6 fte)

To support the development and activities of the Research Center initially for a period of 3 years. The administrative assistant will primarily focus on the following tasks:

  • The support and maintenance of the research information management system;                                                                             
  • The support of internal and external visibility of research through annual reports, research communication and conferences;                                       
  • The support of a UA-research committee, including the organization and follow up of meetings, communication and reporting, and the support for the development and implementation of a research ethics committee;                                   
  • The support for mapping, monitoring and reporting of ongoing research projects, research proposals and research networks, according to the Research Project Guidelines and Procedures (in development).                                                                                  
  • Furthermore the administrative assistant will support the colleagues of the research center in the development of seminars, communication, administration and in their daily tasks, as well as other administrative tasks.

The ideal candidate:

  • You have a level of post-secondary education, attested by a diploma, a bachelor’s degree or you have appropriate and demonstrable professional experience of at least three years;                                      
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office applications, and you are willing to learn to work with additional applications;                                                               
  • You have strong organizational skills and attention to detail;                                                          
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in Papiamento, and in either English or Dutch;                                        
  • You are able to handle multiple tasks and to prioritize effectively;                                                   
  • You are able to work independently and collaboratively in a team.  

We offer a pleasant working environment within a small university with around 800 students that is in full development. The small scale of our organization means that we offer a diversity of work and roles, from providing teaching and conducting research to holding administrative positions.
