Sustainable engineering development is key for small islands like Aruba. The University of Aruba, in collaboration with KU Leuven (Belgium), and facilitated with funding from the European Development Fund (EDF), set up the SISSTEM (Sustainable Island Solutions through Science, Technology, and Engineering (STEM)) program (https://www.ua.aw/sisstem/), including a Bachelor program and research center in bio-environmental engineering, technology, engineering, informatics, and data sciences. The three-year Bachelor program consists of a 180 European credits program with a focus on sustainable development in small island states. A 90 credit master program will start in 2022. Additionally, a research center is being developed, supporting 11 PhD candidates that conduct research on various topics to further enhance the sustainable development of Aruba and other small island states. As Assistant/Associate Professor you work together with a team of 3 other Assistant/Associate professors and 11 junior researchers/PhD candidates. The job is two-fold.
