For our Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management Studies we are looking for a highly motivated:
Lecturer
Management and Hospitality Operations in Tourism
(1.0 fte)
Your key responsibilities are:
- Deliver engaging and high-quality lectures, workshops, and practical management and hospitality operations sessions.
- Develop and update course materials to align with current industry trends, island needs, and academic best practices.
- Supervise and mentor students in their academic and professional development.
- Able to conduct research or industry-related hospitality, tourism, and management projects.
- Collaborate with faculty members and industry partners to enhance the learning experience.
- Participate in curriculum development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Engage in academic advising and contribute to student success initiatives.
- Actively contribute to the faculty’s mission to bridge the gap between academia and the hospitality and tourism industry for small islands highly dependent on tourism.
- Foster community engagement through partnerships, service-learning projects, and industry collaborations.
The ideal candidate has:
- A master’s degree in Hospitality Management, Tourism, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A strong background in the hospitality and tourism industry and a passion for education.
- The lecturer will play a vital role in preparing students for careers in the dynamic field of international tourism and hospitality by delivering high-quality teaching and fostering industry connections.
- Industry experience in hospitality, tourism management, or a related sector is preferred.
- Prior teaching experience is a plus, preferably in higher education.
- Strong affinity with education and student-centered learning.
- Research experience or willingness to engage in academic research is an advantage.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in an international and diverse academic environment.
- Fluent in English (knowledge of Papiamento and/or Dutch is an advantage).

We offer a pleasant working environment within a small university with around 800 students that is in full development. The small scale of our organization means that we offer a diversity of work and roles, from providing teaching and conducting research to holding administrative positions.
This position involves a 40 hours work week and a salary in accordance with the remuneration scheme of the University of Aruba. The appointment is for a contract period of one (1) to three (3) years with the possibility of a contract extension based on a good performance evaluation and unchanged organization conditions. Part of our secondary employment conditions includes 30 vacation days, 13 ATV days, a vacation allowance, a pension plan, additional health insurance, and opportunities for personal and professional development.
