Established in 2009, the Faculty of Arts and Science (FAS) is the fourth and youngest faculty of the University of Aruba. One of the programs at the FAS is the Social Work & Development (SW&D) program through which the Aruban society in multiple ways is being impacted. To replace a colleague within the SW&D program we are looking for a:
 

PROGRAM COORDINATOR (1,0 fte)
 

We are looking for a team manager that can coordinate the Social Work & Development program, develop future strategy, and lead the team members in a coaching manner. Teaching some courses to keep in touch with our student population is wished for. 

Main responsibilities

  • Coordinating the Social Work and Development Program, and managing the academic administration such as assessment schedules, class schedules, and grade inspections;
  • Leading the continuous improvement of the curriculum and the accreditation processes of the program;
  • Maintain and renew the quality of the curriculum based on knowledge of current developments in social work and social work education in relation to the Aruban context;
  • Maintain and develop collaboration with local, regional, and international partners and universities to develop the program;
  • Leading the SW&D team in a coaching manner and supporting the team’s performance and development;
  • Contributing to educational innovation processes and assisting with implementation;
  • Advising colleagues and management on quality improvements in education;
  • Lecturing courses within the SW&D program to keep in touch with our student population.

Qualifications

  • Has a Master’s degree, preferably in a related field;
  • Has experience in leading and managing teams and is a hands-on leader that is part of the team;
  • Has a bird eyes view, can coordinate, communicates clearly, and can develop a strategy for the future together with the team;
  • Has a good verbal and written proficiency in English, working knowledge in Dutch, willing to learn Papiamento and Spanish is a plus;
  • Has several years of teaching experience;
  • Knowledge and experience with Dutch Caribbean Social Work is a plus;
  • Proven professional skills & competencies: organize, coordinate, and coach;
  • Has a flexible and cooperative attitude and is able to fulfill and transition into a variety of roles within a small team;
  • Is able to work independently as well as contribute as an effective team member;
  • Shows sensitivity to and awareness of cultural context, diversity and inclusion.

We offer a pleasant working environment within a small university with around 700 students that is in full development. The small scale of our organization requires a flexible mindset to deploy a variety of activities with the possibility of conducting scientific research.

This position is for an appointment of 40 hours per week and for a salary in accordance with the remuneration scheme of the University of Aruba. The appointment is for a contract period of one (1) to three (3) years with the possibility of a contract extension based on a good performance evaluation and unchanged organization conditions. Part of our secondary employment conditions includes 30 vacation days, 13 ATV days, a vacation allowance, a pension plan, additional health insurance, and opportunities for personal and professional development.
